Mindful Living: A practice for stress reduction and well-being
This 8 week course is based on the MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) program from the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. It will inform and include practice in meditation, mindfulness, light stretching, and awareness of the body. Participants will develop a mindfulness practice that can be integrated into their daily lives.
Sharon Davison is an adult educator (B.Ed. Adult) and meditation practitioner. She creates and delivers training including stress reduction, awareness and transitioning through change, in a variety of contexts. Sharon recently successfully completed a professional training program under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zin and Dr. Saki Santorelli, past and present directors of the Centre for Mindfulness. In addition to facilitating courses and consulting, Sharon offers Purposeful, Integrative & Mindfulness-based Coaching to individuals and groups.

Health and Wellness Program for Mothers
This is a unique program designed to support mothers/caregivers of children with special needs. Parents of children with special needs often face high
levels of stress, greater fatigue, and decreased opportunities for socializing and self-care. This 6 week program will focus on relaxation strategies, self-care, creative expression, insight and self-awareness, and will allow for sharing and peer support amongst women facing similar challenges. Each week will feature the exploration of a health and wellness modality, offering women a tranquil environment and opportunity to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate, as well as a chance to connect with other moms.
Facilitator: Lara Longo BFA, DTATI is a professional art therapist, yoga teacher and energy-healingpractitioner.

Art Therapy: Fall 2011
In children's group art therapy, participants are led through individual and group art activities centered on exploring individual thoughts, feelings and interests. Art media and forms of expression used include painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, mosaics and abstractions. Groups are geared towards children with social- communication challenges, but are open to all
6 week session - $250.00 (includes all art supplies)
Children's group (ages 6-8).
This group will focus on socialization and relational awareness, communication and self-expression, creativity and imagination. 6 Tuesdays 3:45-5:00 starting Sept. 20th.
Children's group (ages 9-12).
This group will focus on encouraging communication and self-expression, relationship skills and social awareness, building self-esteem, strengths and interests, and will use a variety of art media. 6 Wednesdays 3:45-5:00 starting Sept. 21st.
Parent-Child Group
This group emphasizes the parent-child relationship, in which parent/caregiver and child participate together in directed art making activities. Focus will be on communication and expression, relationship skills, social awareness, and creativity, using a variety of art media forms. 6 Saturday mornings 9:30-11:00 starting Sept. 24th
Individual and family art therapy sessions are available by appointment.
What is Art Therapy?
The Art Therapy approach to healing emphasizes the process of communication and expression of issues, emotions and conflicts both verbally and non-verbally. Through the use of shape, colours, and imagery, art can facilitate new understanding and insights, emotional expression, resolve conflicts, and promote growth and healing. Art therapy can be particularly helpful for children who struggle with verbal expression.

Lara Longo BFA, DTATI, is a Professional Art Therapist, with extensive experience working with children, youth and adults with spectrum issues, developmental disabilities, anxiety, and social and communication challenges.
